Pep band reflection
This year for pep band I tried to go to every pep band game that I could to see how it would be. I don't remember the specific number of games I went to because there was so many in a short period of time. I believe I deserve a decent grade for my contributions to pep band. I attended most of the games and tried my best to play each time. I was never late to playing at the games as well, but that goes for everyone. The songs seemed difficult this year, but I know they will come easier next year.
I do think pep band is important to the Newark Band. The games would seem a lot less fun without us. I love when we play the national anthem at the beginning of a game because I remember when I was in basketball and schools would only play recordings of it, so boring. And usually the recording would be messed up and scratchy or something, but it's so nice when we play it together. It also allows the Newark Band to attend games for free, and if you count the number of games everyone goes to, it saves everyone in the band a lot of charges for admission.
My least favorite songs for pep band are just the songs located on "Stadium Jams Vol. 6". Each song is somewhat out of my range as of right now, and some of them seem awkwardly short and cut off. Like there should be more but there isn't. My favorite three to play are Livin' On A Prayer, Seven Nation Army, and Lady Gaga. All of these songs are the right amount of difficulty for me and they sound great every time we play them. Lady Gaga is a little bit out of my skill level but I want to keep playing it because it sounds so cool, I just want to learn it really well.
In "Stadium Jams Vol. 6", I've improved a lot on throughout the year. Specifically, All I Do Is Win, the entire song. There is no specific measure where I improved because the entire song is a huge challenge. At the beginning of the year I looked at that song and thought it was impossible. But now I can play the high eighth notes decently enough where I can play it through during the games.
I would like to add "Hit The Road, Jack" by Ray Charles to pep band.
